Dr Sheila Amici-Dargan
Dr Sheila Amici-Dargan is an Associate Professor in Life Sciences Education at the University of Bristol. In addition to having a PhD in Biophysics, Dr Amici-Dargan is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Sheila was Education Theme for The Physiological Society from 2016-2020, and is currently the Education, Outreach and Diversity trustee for the Society for Experimental Biology. Dr Amici-Dargan was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) in 2012 from the University of Bristol and completed a level 7 module in educational theory and research at Cardiff University in 2019. Dr Amici-Dargan worked closely with Professor Stephen Rutherford (the lead applicant for this Erasmus+ award) at Cardiff University from 2009-2019 and she has similar educational research interests. Dr Amici-Dargan has an extensive presentation record at national and international education conferences, and an emerging publication record in educational scholarship and research. Dr Amici-Dargan’s pedagogic research is currently focused on using the EAT framework to enhance assessment literacy, design, and feedback at the level of individual assessments. She is currently writing up her research on online learning communities and cross-institutional communities of practice for publication. Dr Amici-Dargan has experience of establishing and running educational research seminar series and interactive workshops to upskill academic staff in innovations in teaching and learning (e.g. flipped sessions, blended learning, assessment, and feedback). Dr Amici-Dargan has extensive research networks within and beyond the University of Bristol that are being drawn upon to support EAT Erasmus project aims. Dr Amici-Dargan has an established track record of collaborating on education innovation projects and has the expertise and experience in assessment and evaluation methodologies to make significant positive contributions to the outcomes of this project.
