Dr Rafael de Miguel González
Dr. Rafael de Miguel González. PhD in urban geography and planning, University of Paris. PhD in Science Education, University of Valladolid. He is Professor of geographical education at University of Zaragoza.
Experience: Executive Associate Dean, Faculty of Education since 2013, where he manages European projects as Erasmus+ and international agreements with North American, Latin American and Asian Universities (China, India). He also manages Erasmus+ traineeship mobility to encourage European entrepreneurship. He was member of the Committee of assistance to the European Commission for implementation of the second phase of the trans-European cooperation in higher education (Tempus II).
He has been partner of several Lifelong Learning projects like digital-earth.eu (510010-LLP-1-2010-1-AT-COMENIUS-CNW), School on cloud: connecting education to the Cloud for digital citizenship (543221-LLP-1-2013-1-GR-KA3-KA3NW) and other research projects like HyperAtlas in the classroom (EC ESPON Programme).
He has also been coordinator for four European ERASMUS+ projects: YouthMetre 562220-EPP-1-2015-1-BE-EPPKA3-PI-FORWARD; MYGEO 2018-1-IT02-KA203-048195; DILIGATL LITERACY 2019-1-BE02-KA201-060212; and ON THE WAY 2019-1-FR02-KA201-062888. Director of the European CBHE project HARMONY.
Experience for others: He is a mapping expert and experienced in the use of data for visualisation and use with young people and education. He is co-editor, with Karl Donert, of the book Innovative Learning Geography (2014), published by Cambridge Scholars Publishers. Selected in the top ten of books of geographical education in 2014, by the International Geographical Union (Commission of Geographical Education). President of the Scientific and Organizational Committees at the First European Conference in Teaching Geography, held in University of Zaragoza (2012). Editor of the book Series Key Challenges in Geography (Springer).
Author of more than 120 papers and books about geography and education (innovative teaching and learning Geography with geospatial technologies) and geospatial applications on urban and regional planning.
President of EUROGEO (European Association of geographers). Member of the Board of the Royal Geographical Society of Spain, and International Geographical Union Spanish Committee. Member of the General Assembly of Partners, advisor council for Habitat 3 Conference and New Urban Agenda (UN-Habitat) and UN-ECOSOC Youth Forum 2017. BELMA Award. Member, Academia Europea.
