Dr Bex Pike
Dr Bex Pike is a HE teaching-focused lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Bristol. Previously, Bex trained and qualified as secondary school teacher, providing her with experience of teaching in secondary education. Bex is currently a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches across all years of the undergraduate programme over the past five years, as well as supervising project students throughout this time. Bex teaches on subjects related to Animal Behaviour, Conservation Biology and Quantitative and Computational skills. Bex is also interested in pedagogic research, particularly with the aim to improve the student and staff experience related to Assessment & Feedback. Bex is the lead for Assessment & Feedback within the School, as well as being an Exam Officer and Academic Integrity Officer within the School. Bex is part of the wider Academic Integrity network across the Faculty of Life Sciences. This year, Bex was successful in becoming a Bristol Institute of Learning and Teaching Associate for Assessment & Feedback which involves providing support for other members of staff across the University in areas related to Assessment & Feedback. For the past two years, Bex has received funding from the School, as well as BILT to lead a research project related to assessment literacy. Bex’s team includes colleagues as well as student partners.
